Did you know that Guatemala provides free education to all citizens through 15 years old? However, there is often only enough supplies for1 out of every 3-4 students. In addition, schools in the region don't have indoor bathrooms or running water, and without air conditioning or even circulating fans, they can get as hot as a furnace. We hope that by improving their learning environment and providing much needed school supplies, we can help reduce the high dropout rate.
Starting in August 2019, we are on a mission to fill 300 back packs for the children of San Pedro, Guatemala (within the municipality of San Jose, in northern Petén). And by partnering with Vine International, we are able to ship them to Guatemala for about $3 for each bag. Click "Donate Now" below to support this project, and ensure to write "Back Pack Project" to ear-mark your donation for this project.
For $20, you could sponsor the supplies for one child for an entire semester, including a backpack, full of supplies, plus shipping expenses. You would think it's cheaper to just buy it there, but a single backpack in northern Guatemala costs about $15 on average, but less than $5 in the US.
For $40, you could sponsor a water filter for a classroom.
For $100, you could sponsor the purchase and installation of a ceiling fan in one classroom.
